The Devil Wears Crocs: Being Ray Dalio’s Personal Assistant

by Beth Connolly on March 14, 2012

Ray Dalio was one of Crocs’ early adopters, according to his former Personal Assistant #2 for a period of 6 months, Kathleen O’Grady.

Ms. O’Grady recounts this and other tidbits in her blog post about the lessons she learned during her time at Bridgewater Associates. She told Dealbook in an interview that her time there resembled the novel (and subsequent movie with Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep) The Devil Wears Prada in that she never knew what she would have to deal with next–from mailing a freshly stuffed rare bird to Japan, to engaging in a paintball tournament with her 99% male colleagues.

Doesn’t seem that Mr. Dalio was as mean as Meryl Streep’s character, but from reading between the lines, you can infer that Ms. O’Grady’s relationship with Personal Assistant #1 (her direct supervisor) was roughly akin to that between Anne Hathaway’s character and Personal Assistant #1 in the movie.
