Occupy to Vikram Pandit: Let’s Have a Fruitful Dialogue, and We Will Videotape It
by Beth Connolly on February 28, 2012
Occupy Wall Street’s Alternative Banking Group has officially accepted Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit’s standing offer to meet up and chat.
Last fall, at a Fortune magazine breakfast event, Pandit indicated that he sympathized with some parts of the Occupy Movement and said, “I’d be happy to talk to them any time they want to come up.”
In a press release yesterday, Cathy O’Neil, facilitator of the Alternative Banking Group, wrote an e-mail to Pandit, mentioning all of the things they have in common, like “working hard to create a culture of responsible finance,” and said she looked forward to a “fruitful dialogue,” as long as Pandit allows the conversation to be videotaped and posted online.
Perhaps they’ll grab a couple of beers and drink them in Zuccotti Park, enjoying New York’s early spring weather.
I guess Occupy has been super busy this winter–that must be why it took them four months to respond to Mr. Pandit’s invitation?
